After playing through the final battle of Heavenly Sword last night, I got to thinking; "this game is the absolute epitome of epic". So I'm wondering, what moments in gaming stood out to you as being one of the most amazing, one of the grandest scenes you've ever played.

I've played through a lot of epic scenes in games, but I think the final battle in Heavenly Sword has taken the cake for me. Without divulging too much into spoilers, (the beginning of the battle also takes place at the very beginning of the game, and re-happens later so I can talk about that part) your fighting literally tens of thousands of enemies as once; targeted semi-cutscene attacks will involve timed button presses akin to God of War or Resi 4, except on a much more epic scale.

[some minor spoilers here]

The final battle involves a single hugely powerful enemy, with regular humans fighting and running all around you as you engage in a clash of godly proportions, each swing of your weapon sends dozen of enemies that weren't even your targets flying lifeless through the air, Magic attacks cutting a swath of death through the battlefields, a heaven and hell style clash with no regard to the mortals around you.

No.

When Snake got naked and started the Revolution, now that was epic.

I though the final battle in Ocrania Of Time was pretty epic. The first half of that battle against Gannondorf was pretty tough in itself and very impressive when you first start fighting. The whole build up to the battle, going through the castle with the organ music getting louder and louder as you get closer to the top, only heightened the experience of it. And then when you finally beat Gannondorf, and then get to the bottom of the collapsing castle, an even bigger beast with the two biggest swords ever emerges. That was a really awesome battle!
My Photoblog - check it out. Im new to the whole blogging this but sure ill give it a shot.

That was pretty epic, the end of Windwaker was pretty epic too. I won't ruin anything but after you beat the last battle Link does something totally badass.

Everything Chazz says is both a lie and the complete truth. You can spend your entire life trying to understand how this could be so, but your head would explode exactly 97 seconds before you achieve your goal.

Final Fantasy is full of epic moments - the opera on FFVI, the final battle on FFVII and the opening cutscene on FFVIII just to name a few.

Similar to Lee's first post but nowhere close to epic-ness is a battle on Kingdom Hearts 2 where you fight 1000 enemies onscreen at once. Do I need to say more?

I'd like to think maxing out on points in Tetris is pretty epic. That is if you've ever done it before.
