Return to Castle Wolfenstein is killing me!

I know this is an old game but I need help. I got thru the first mission and now am on Mission 2. I can't get by the second watch tower by the bridge. How the heck do I get this guy without setting off the alarms. I have tried the knife but he either shoots at me or they shoot me off the ladder. HELP!

You should try sticking your P@#$% in the controller slot and rubbing grease on your head.
