I was very tempted to spoil the ballot also, but ended up going with the Greens. None the parties really appealed and the ballot paper was quite long, showing candidates I’ve never even heard of, that’s how effective their campaigns were.

Anyway, I voted just to make sure it was one less vote that Labour, Conservatives and the bloody BNP will not get.

Congratulations, exercising your right to vote in a democracy is pretty stellar, even if you didn't vote. Spoiling is perfectly acceptable and I would do that over not voting as well.

Pardon my ignorance on foreign cultures, but isn't the BNP the 'British Nazi Party'?

Haha it's actually the British National Party.

But people nicknamed it the British Nazi Party because of its views.

A combination of voter apathy, voter misdirection and of course people who genuinely believe in that.... ideology.

But it's the same thing isn't it?

Anyway, in my opinion the BNP is worse than the Republican Party over here. Good luck keeping them out of office.

they won't get anywhere near office, they'll have very little impact in policy
they represent a minority and that is all they will ever stay. If it ever stops being the case i'll eat this tube of Daktarin thats sinning in-front of me

However unlikely it is that the BNP will have an impact on anything with the exception to common sense, it still is possible. Ignoring something too much may result in it slipping past. For instance the two MEP seats they gained.

Edit: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=GnwFmquvv38

Strangely enough, that is actually authentic..

When it comes to voting you can never go wrong with the Monster Raving Looney Party.
