Final Fantasy 12 is the latest upcoming release to join the long line of popular games in Final Fantasy Series. Set for a 2005 release date, this game offers many new features never before seen in the series. New features such as real-time battles eliminate the "good guys one site, bad guys one the other" setup. This game involves moving the character around during battle to avoid enemy attacks. There is also no random battles, all enemies are visible on-screen before you battle them. If you wish to avoid battles you must "sneak" around these enemies who can find you by sight and even sound.
Final Fantasy 12 is set in the world of Ivalice, where two kingdoms of Arcadia and have been at war with one another for years. Unconveniently situated in the middle of these kingdoms is the small kingdom of Dalamaska. The Final Fantasy games has always had an enemy in each one, but never before has a game had 2 enemies. There are several confirmed characters in the game and each have existing backgrounds that bind them together to reflect some great work by Square-Enix. Vaan, Ashe, Balflear, Fran, Penelo and Basch are all confirmed characters. This game has a very interesting plot and Square Enix has done a great job with Final Fantasy 12. Since the release of Final Fantasy 7, people have come to expect something special in every game and it's a wonder how they manage to do it everytime.
Final Fantasy 12 may look similar to 10 and X-2, but it runs much faster and at a smoother rate. There are a lot appealing scenes scene in screenshots that suggest that this is a futuristic war game. The plot focuses on the survival of Dalamaska and the Resistence - which fights against Arcadia and . Square-Enix has promised this game is going to be something different and not follow the typical storyline of love between the main characters.
Square-Enix has released some official Final Fantasy 12 music through their official japanese website, although there have been no official names or lyrics as of yet, they have given us a taste of what's to come. Final Fantasy games have become known for their quality soundtracks and from what we have heard so far, Final Fantasy 12 is going to impress.
Final Fantasy 12 is going to give its fans alot more sense of realism. With the new battle system and gameplay, this game is either going to be a success or another problem similar to what critics dubbed Final Fantasy 8. Square-Enix is taking a gamble changing its winning formula and only time will tell if it pays off with the fans.

Well hardly as good as Metroid's description of plot and gameplay, i'll give a basic idea of 8 at least (haven't played 11)
As it starts, your a cadet for a mercenary school. You quickly pass and become involved with a resistance (isn't that always a ff thing) against a giant military country. led by a sorceres of several generations of power. After foiling some plans of theirs, your home school is attacked by them, and you must defend. afterwards your school becomes a ship that can take you all over the map. from there you find out all sorts of past secrets that i wont ruin for you here. I'll just finish with the fact that you travel to space and even go into a timeless zone to stop an unspekable evil from ruling/destroying the world(classic ff reason)
as i said, not as good as metroids but still a good start. i never really like the game that much but i think you might. Ya never know til you play it, right.

hmmmm, not quite suicideking, you didn't answer all the way.
the plot of 5 (for anthology, right?)is you are a small group of adventurers that have to defend the crystals of the elements from being shattered and unleashing an evil mage sealed up a generation ago. You fail in your world. you then go into another world that is connected to yours (via meterorite warp?!?) and then try to stop that world's crystals from breaking.
